Rosters announced for upcoming Men's and Women's Box Lacrosse Tryouts

Jun. 27, 2024

Lacrosse Canada is excited to announce the two tryout rosters for the upcoming Men’s and Women’s box lacrosse tryouts.

The tryouts will take place at Canada Games Park in St. Catharines, Ontario, on July 2nd and 3rd.

These tryouts are for the respective 2024 Box Championships, set for September 20-29 in Utica, New York, with 28 teams in the men’s box championship and 10 teams in the first-ever women’s box championship.

The women’s team has already been through an initial set of tryouts earlier this year, the list was then shortened for this final tryout. These athletes also competed in early June at the ILA in a mini tournament with Ireland and the Haudenosaunee along with an intersquad scrimmage. This tryout in St. Catharines will be the final tryout.

As for the men, this will be their first and only tryout weekend. The staff invited these 43 athletes to represent Canada and battle for the opportunity to play in the World Championships in Utica.

This is the first time a Women’s Box Lacrosse National championship will be held. These athletes have been apart of history since the first tryout. Expect competition to be at an all time high next week to be a member of Team Canada.

The men have won all 5 of the previous world box lacrosse championships. The most recent coming in 2019, when Canada defeated the Haudenosaunee by a score of 19-12 in Langley, BC.
