Lacrosse Canada is excited to announce the roster for the first World Lacrosse Women’s Box Championship. The championship takes place in Utica, NY from September 20-29, 2024.

The staff had many tough decisions during the process, and we would like to thank all the women who came out and were a part of history at tryouts. 

The road to making this team was not an easy one. Tryouts began with 203 athletes vying for a spot on the final roster. These tryouts were set in Oakville, ON, and Langley, BC. After two hard fought days in both locations, the roster was trimmed down to 48 for the final set of tryouts. 

These 48 started the final process in Six Nations at the ILA. After playing games vs the Haudenosaunee and Ireland, Canada played a tight inter squad game. These games served as great preparation for the final tryout in St. Catharines, ON. The final two days of tryouts were fast paced, as these athletes once again showed the world how impressive the women’s box lacrosse game is with two games on Canada Games Park pad 1.

Along with a stacked roster, Canada also has a loaded coaching staff. Head coach Troy Cordingley will lead the staff, alongside him are assistant coaches, Troyhann Santos, Krista Lovse, Cory Henkewich, and Megan Kingston. Support staff include Jennifer Bell, Emily Kenyon, and Marc Bourret. 

General Manager Tami Rayner had this to say about the team “Extremely excited to watch the talent unfold at the World Championships. This team is incredibly skilled, experienced, fast and strong. They will be a very difficult team to beat in the defensive end with our strength and relentless hustle. Offensively their creativity and fearless attacking is a huge asset”.

World lacrosse recently announced the pool Canada will be playing in for the round robin.
