Can Lacrosse Canada apply for a Development Grant (CT Jumpstart Program) on behalf of a Member Association?
No, as per CRA Policy Statement CPS-007, Lacrosse Canada cannot act as a conduit for a local club’s purposes.
Are there restrictions on accessing Lacrosse Canada funds sent to the Foundation?
No, provided that the Foundation’s purposes allow for grants or disbursements to Lacrosse Canada.
Can Lacrosse Canada receive donations directed to a Member Association?
No. Donations must be made without any express or implied condition that they be transferred to a local club or association (Income Tax Act, Paragraph 168(1)(f)).
Can a donation to Lacrosse Canada be directed to a provincial team attending a national championship?
No. Lacrosse Canada cannot accept donations that are intended to be transferred to a provincial club or association.
As a charitable organization, can Lacrosse Canada now apply for grants that were previously inaccessible?
Yes! If the grant requires an organization to be a qualified donee, Lacrosse Canada is now eligible.
Can a donor specify that their funds go to a particular program or portfolio?
Donors cannot impose conditions on their donations. However, Lacrosse Canada’s Board of Directors may allocate funds toward specific initiatives.
