Lacrosse Canada Announces Governance Action Relating to 2025 Minto Cup

Oshawa, ON – Lacrosse Canada has initiated a formal suspension process under its Bylaws in response to concerns regarding the conduct of the Ontario Lacrosse Association (OLA) surrounding the 2025 Minto Cup. Because the OLA has been previously notified, Lacrosse Canada is able to communicate transparently about the situation.

The Minto Cup is a nationally sanctioned championship under the exclusive jurisdiction of Lacrosse Canada. Ensuring consistency, fairness, and adherence to national agreements is essential to protecting the integrity of this event and all of Lacrosse Canada’s championships.

After reviewing information related to financial demands, jurisdictional overreach, and actions taken against the 2025 Host Committee, Lacrosse Canada determined that formal governance action was required. The OLA has been issued a Notice of Pending Suspension and provided an opportunity to respond and address the concerns raised.

Lacrosse Canada remains committed to:

  • Upholding fair and consistent governance across all Member Associations.
  • Supporting host organizations that deliver national championships.
  • Ensuring that decisions relating to national events are made in accordance with the rules, agreements, and governing documents of Lacrosse Canada.

Because this is an ongoing governance process, Lacrosse Canada will not provide further comment at this time. Updates will be communicated when the process concludes.
