Tokyo, Japan – Team Canada rallied from a fourth-quarter deficit to defeat Australia 13-11 on Monday at Oi Stadium, improving to 2-0 in Pool B at the 2026 Nissin Foods World Lacrosse Women’s Championship.
The victory secured Canada’s place in the knockout round, as the Canadians remained unbeaten through two preliminary round games.

How It Happened
Australia struck first before Canada responded with four of the next five goals to take a 4-2 lead after the opening quarter. Erica Evans opened the Canadian scoring, while Player of the Game Alissa Digiacinto and Nicole Perroni each added first-half quarter goals as Canada took back the early momentum.
The Australians answered in the second quarter, outscoring Canada 4-2 to send the teams into halftime tied 6-6. Australia carried that play into the third, opening a two-goal advantage before late goals from Madalyn Baxter and Brooklyn Walker-Welch kept Canada within one heading into the final 15 minutes.
Facing its first fourth-quarter deficit of the tournament, Canada delivered its strongest stretch of the game. Kassidy Morris tied the contest less than a minute into the frame before Erica Evans scored the eventual game-winner midway through the quarter. The Canadians closed the afternoon by scoring six of the game’s final eight goals, completing a 13-11 comeback victory to improve to 2-0 in Pool B and clinch a place in the knockout round.
