Team Canada is heading to Japan in 2026. Saturday’s dominant round robin win over Argentina officially secured Canada’s qualification for the next World Lacrosse Women’s Championship – and Sunday’s semifinal victory over Puerto Rico punched their ticket to the gold medal game at the 2025 PALA Women’s Qualifier.
Canada’s semifinal showing was calm, composed, and clinical – exactly the tone they’ve set all tournament. Kylea Dobson opened the scoring with a natural hat trick in the first seven minutes, setting the pace for a 16–7 win. She finished the day with five goals and one assist, while Aurora Cordingley added four points. Megan Kinna, Lauren Black, and Nicole Perroni each chipped in three points of their own as Canada continued to spread the offensive load with confidence.
Earlier in the week, Canada cruised through round robin play with statement wins over Argentina (24–2), Jamaica (22–1), and the Haudenosaunee (14–6). Cordingley emerged as a consistent offensive leader, racking up 10 goals across the first three games. Jillian McNaughton, Annabel Child, Eve Hritzuk, and Kylea Dobson also delivered strong multi-goal performances, as Canada’s depth and speed became a clear separating factor.
Defensively, Canada has allowed just 16 goals across four games – thanks to a cohesive back line and a commitment to full-field pressure.
But the job’s not finished. Canada faces its biggest test today, taking on top-seeded USA in the gold medal final – with regional bragging rights, tournament hardware, and momentum toward Japan on the line.
