Lacrosse Canada is currently seeking applicants for four (4) open positions on its Board of Directors (3 positions with a 3 year term and 1 position with a one year term). An additional Director position is also the Athlete Director, which holds a one year term. About the Role
The Lacrosse Canada Nominating Committee (NC) will lead the search and selection process. The NC will vet and recommend candidates based on a wide range of experiences and skills aligned with Lacrosse Canada’s vision and governance needs.
We are calling on members of the lacrosse community, the public, and those passionate about contributing to the sport’s cultural evolution to identify and encourage qualified individuals to step forward.

Candidate Profile-Candidates should demonstrate strength in one or more of the following areas:
Industry Experience- Canadian sport system knowledge, Lacrosse operations and development, Sport safety and well-being
General Competencies- Executive leadership, Board governance, Stakeholder engagement, Government relations, Media and public communication, Policy development
Technical Skills-Finance and accounting, Government Relations, Legal and regulatory knowledge, Risk management, IT and Information governance
Behavioural Competencies-Strong leadership and influence, strategic orientation and insight, courage in decision-making, active listening and communication, commitment to engagement and preparedness

Qualifications:
The Corporation will have ten Directors, as follows:
Eight (8)Directors-at-Large, One (1) Athlete Director, One (1) Indigenous Director
The Athlete Director will be nominated by the National Team athletes, meet the definition of Athlete, and be elected by the Members. The Indigenous Director will be nominated by the First Nations Lacrosse Association and appointed by theBoard for a one (1) year term. The eight (8) Directors-at-Large will be nominated by the Nominations Committee and elected by the Members.
Any person, who is 18 years of age or older, who has the power under law to contract, who has not been declared incapable by a court in Canada or in another country, who fulfills the requirements of the Income Tax Act related to serving as a director of a registered charity, who does not have the status of bankrupt, may be nominated for election asa Director. Persons who are employees of Members are not eligible to be elected as Directors.
Not more than 60% of the Directors can be of the same gender.
Except as otherwise provided in the Act or LC Bylaws, the Board has the powers of the Corporation and may delegate any of its powers, duties and functions. More specifically, the Board will:
Approve the vision, mission, values and strategic direction of the Corporation; Approve policies, procedures, rules and regulations to deliver the programs and services of the Corporation
Provide continuity for the Corporation by ensuring its financial health; manage and oversee the operations of the Corporation;
Ensure positive relationships with stakeholders; and Perform any other duties from time to time as may be in the bestinterests of the Corporation.
Proficiency in both official languages is considered a significant asset.
