The Steering Group Lead is a critical volunteer leadership role, responsible for guiding discipline-specific Steering Groups across the national lacrosse landscape. These groups include:
- Men’s Field
- Women’s Field
- Sixes
- Major Box
- Minor Box
- High Performance
Each Steering Group plays an advisory role in supporting Lacrosse Canada’s national strategic initiatives.
About the Role
The Steering Group Lead serves as a knowledgeable facilitator and strategic contributor—not a fiduciary or decision-making authority. Leads are not agents of Lacrosse Canada, but help ensure that each group operates collaboratively and effectively within its mandate.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Guide the Steering Group’s focus and ensure alignment with its approved mandate
- Promote inclusive and informed dialogue among group members
- Ensure alignment with Lacrosse Canada’s strategic plan and discipline priorities
Operational Coordination
- Support the creation of recommendations for staff and the Board
- Facilitate communication across the Steering Group
- Assist with discipline-specific initiatives as needed
Qualifications
Applicants should bring:
- Proven expertise or significant experience within their discipline (e.g., coaching, officiating, athlete development)
- Demonstrated leadership or committee experience in sport, nonprofit, or professional settings
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- A clear alignment with Lacrosse Canada’s values, mission, and governance principles
