Oshawa, ON — June 23, 2025 — Lacrosse Canada is now accepting applications for the volunteer role of Steering Group Lead, with the application window open from June 23 to July 4, 2025. Interested candidates can apply online at:

The Steering Group Lead is a critical volunteer leadership role, responsible for guiding discipline-specific Steering Groups across the national lacrosse landscape. These groups include:

  • Men’s Field
  • Women’s Field
  • Sixes
  • Major Box
  • Minor Box
  • High Performance

Each Steering Group plays an advisory role in supporting Lacrosse Canada’s national strategic initiatives.

About the Role

The Steering Group Lead serves as a knowledgeable facilitator and strategic contributor—not a fiduciary or decision-making authority. Leads are not agents of Lacrosse Canada, but help ensure that each group operates collaboratively and effectively within its mandate.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Guide the Steering Group’s focus and ensure alignment with its approved mandate
  • Promote inclusive and informed dialogue among group members
  • Ensure alignment with Lacrosse Canada’s strategic plan and discipline priorities

Operational Coordination

  • Support the creation of recommendations for staff and the Board
  • Facilitate communication across the Steering Group
  • Assist with discipline-specific initiatives as needed

Qualifications

Applicants should bring:

  • Proven expertise or significant experience within their discipline (e.g., coaching, officiating, athlete development)
  • Demonstrated leadership or committee experience in sport, nonprofit, or professional settings
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • A clear alignment with Lacrosse Canada’s values, mission, and governance principles
