SAINT JOHN, N.B. — The Akwesasne Thunder are Founders Cup champions.
Akwesasne captured gold at the 2026 Founders Cup on Saturday, defeating the Seneca WarChiefs 11-4 in the championship final at TD Station in Saint John, New Brunswick.
The Thunder put together a dominant tournament, finishing with a perfect 7-0 record en route to their second Founders Cup championship. Akwesasne established control early in the final, taking a 4-0 lead after the opening period before adding seven more goals in the second to build an 11-1 advantage heading into the final frame.
Alex Delormier and Tysen Sunday led the way offensively in the championship game, each recording three goals and an assist.
Akwesasne’s championship run capped a strong week of Junior B lacrosse in Saint John, with teams from across the country competing for the Founders Cup and showcasing the depth and talent of Canada’s next generation of box lacrosse players.
