WHITBY, ON – While 2026 marked the first year the Carol Patterson Cup was held as a standalone event, the history of Team Alberta remained firmly in focus. Entering the championship game, Alberta had won three consecutive titles.
Now, they can make it four.
Team Alberta captured its fourth straight Carol Patterson Cup title with a thrilling 8–7 victory over British Columbia in the gold medal game at Iroquois Park Arena, capping off an incredible week of lacrosse.
After needing to beat B.C. by more than two goals the night before just to earn a spot in the championship game, Alberta found themselves right back across from their provincial rivals with a gold medal on the line. The rematch was every bit as close as expected, with the two teams battling through a back-and-forth affair that came down to the final minutes.
Hannah Dick led Alberta offensively with four goals, while Elise Fawcett and Layla Jaber each added a goal and an assist as Alberta secured the victory. B.C. was led offensively by Vanessa Fauchon and Lexy Stevenson, who combined for six of the team’s seven goals. In a strong showing from both ends of the floor, Alberta’s Ava Pinch and B.C.’s Maren McKeown were named Game MVPs for their performances in net.
Tournament in Review
Ontario’s Olivia Windley finished the tournament as the leading scorer, recording 33 goals and 10 assists for 43 points across six games. Her Ontario teammate Rylan Haslam followed with 40 points, while B.C.’s Vanessa Fauchon finished third with 30 points.
Team Ontario goaltender Kiera Roberts was named the Carol Patterson Cup MVP after a standout week in net. Roberts was a key contributor throughout the tournament, helping Ontario secure a bronze medal.

The championship also marked the first event broadcast on Lacrosse Canada TV (LCTV), providing fans across the country with the opportunity to follow the action throughout the week.
From the opening faceoff to the final whistle, the 2026 Carol Patterson Cup marked a strong first chapter as a standalone championship, bringing together the best U22 women’s lacrosse players in the country for an exciting week of lacrosse.
