A strong showing in game 2 has Canada on brink of locking up Group B

Aug. 18, 2024

Canada continued their dominance at the World Lacrosse Women’s U20 Championship after defeating the Haudenosaunee 22-4 at Shek Kip Mai Sports Park on Saturday.

Canada would use a 12- goal run over three quarters to secure the victory.

The majority of the teams ball possession was courtesy off Beth Anderson as she finished the game 21 of 28 from the draw circle and was named player of the match.

Jami Macdonald’s name was written down eight times during the game as she recorded five goals and three assists in the contest. Lauren Black, Morgan White and Olivia Bladon helped contribute to the red and white’s offence by adding five, four and three points respectively.

Canadian keeper Lauren Spence registred five saves in the game.

Sophie Powless had a strong second half in net for Haudenosaunee making six saves while Paisley Cook added two goals.

Canada is close to claiming top spot in Pool B with their final pool play matches against Korea and Chinese Taipei.

Their next match will be on Sunday against Chinese Taipei at 4 P.M. HKT, 4 A.M. EST and 1 A.M. PST.
