Rachel McKinnon hired as Technical Coordinator

Lacrosse Canada is proud to announce the hiring of Rachael McKinnon as Technical Coordinator.

 

As the Technical Coordinator she will communicate and collaborate with LC partners to effectivelyadminister and deliver ongoing and new programs, events and/or projects that will foster increased national development in the sport of lacrosse.

 

Rachael earned her BA in Communication Studies with minors in Marketing and French from the University of Denver in 2016. She then went on to pursue her MBA in Sports Management from Franklin Pierce University and her MS in Instructional Leadership from Robert Morris University. She is also a Learning Facilitator with Lacrosse Canada and is a certi?ed personal trainer with the National Academy of Sports Medicine.

 

Rachel also has a strong history with the game of lacrosse as a coach and player. McKinnon’s lacrosse journey began with the Oshawa Lady Blue Knights Field Lacrosse and the Whitby Warriors BoxLacrosse programs. During her minor career, McKinnon was part of 12 Provincial Championship Teams, OWFL All-Star Selection, and an Ontario Summer Games Championship. McKinnon earned a Full Scholarship to the University of Denver playing Division 1 Lacrosse and helped the program to its ?rst two trips to the NCAA Sweet Sixteen and the ?rst Conference championship in program history. She also competed in two National Championships with Team Ontario and was named to the All-Star teamon both occasions. McKinnon was part of the Top 46 Players in Canada, competing for a spot on the Senior Women’s National Box Lacrosse Team and plays with the Whitby Rush Organization in the WMSL.

 

After completing her collegiate career, McKinnon coached with Franklin Pierce University as a Graduate Assistant in 2017 and Robert Morris University as an Assistant Coach for the 2018 and 2019 seasons. McKinnon returned home and has spent time working with the Ontario Tech University Women’sLacrosse Team competing in the OUA. McKinnon has also coached with the Whitby Warriors, Oshawa Lady Blue Knights, Team Ontario U19, Team Ontario U17 and Development Camps in Ontario. She was a Coach with 2 U19 Women’s Field Lacrosse National Championship Teams and Assistant Coach with the 2022 Canada Summer Games Team that won Gold with the ?rst-ever women’s box lacrosse inclusion into the games. Most recently, Rachael was an Assistant Coach with the U20 Women’s Field Team that competed in Hong Kong and earned a Silver Medal with 2 All-World Player selections.
