Lacrosse Canada Board of Directors Call for Nominations

Oshawa, ON- Lacrosse Canada is the national governing body for Lacrosse in Canada and we are dedicated to the growth of our game from the grassroots to the national level.

Lacrosse Canada has opened a call for nominations ahead of the 2024 Annual Meeting that begins in November. We are currently seeking candidates to fill 4 open Director-at-Large positions on the Lacrosse Canada Board of Directors. One of these positions must be filled by a National Team athlete that participated within the last 9 years.

We are looking for dedicated and qualified candidates that will possess the competencies and/or expertise necessary to provide leading-edge governance at the board level in an advisory capacity.

Potential candidates should have skills that enhance and provide competent leadership to take Lacrosse Canada in an upward direction. The nominees should have knowledge of the Lacrosse Canada sports system, structure and understanding of how Provincial Sports Organizations play a role within Lacrosse Canada. Candidates should have general competencies, board governance, leadership, government relations, media/public communications, policy development and organizational culture. Diversity which includes geographic diversity, ethnic diversity, and gender diversity is also important to everyone within the lacrosse community. Proficiency in both official languages would be considered as an asset.

Lacrosse Canada is looking for Directors with technical competencies like Finance and accounting, compensation and human resources, legal and regulatory, risk management, marketing and sales, IT and information management, business development, organizational culture, change management to fill these positions. Behavioral competencies like leadership and influence, preparedness and engagement, strategic orientation, communication and listening will provide a new level of professionalism and respect within the lacrosse community but also the Canadian Olympic Committee and the International Olympic Committee as we prepare for the Olympics in Los Angeles in 2028. With the creation of a new strategic plan for the quadrennial 2024-2028 the board will assist and support the vision, along with the implementation, creating measurables and being accountable for the mandate and vision of Lacrosse Canada.

As a member of the Board of Directors, you will be required to meet 2-3 times per year virtually along with attending the Semi-Annual and Annual General Meeting in person.

Lacrosse Canada asks its members, the public and those with a passion for lacrosse to encourage qualified individuals to respond to this call for nominations. Help us continue to grow our national summer sport by putting forward nominations today.
