Women's Team continues strong group play. Earns spot in knockout rounds

It was another stellar performance from the Canadian women’s team as they remain unbeaten in the tournament after a 28-0 win over Germany.

Canada came out strong in the first quarter with Katy de Snoo scoring twice and Shonly Wallace adding a goal and an assist to help Canada lead 6-0 after the opening 15 minutes of play.

The second quarter saw Canada build on their lead with the help of Erica Evans, who recorded three points in the quarter and de Snoo added two more goals to record her second hat trick of the tournament. Rory Rothnie scored two quick goals for Canada in just under three minutes to give Canada a 14-0 lead at halftime.

In the second half, Canada did not slow down. Evans continued to dominate against the German defence by adding six more points, including two more goals to finish the game with four goals and five assists. Other offensive production came from Dacia Cordingley, Dana Dobbie, and Harlowe Steele finishing with six, five and four points, respectively.

Starting goalie Olivia Schmidt was lights out in net, stopping the five shots she saw in the first half before handing things off to Jessica Quinn, who stopped the three shots against her to produce another shutout in the tournament.

Canada’s final round robin game comes tomorrow at 9:30AM EST against Ireland.
