Women's team handles business, defeats Haudenosaunee 19-3 and advances to Finals

For the first time ever, the Canadian women will play in the inaugural gold medal game at the World Lacrosse Box Championships against the USA.

The Canadian women’s team prevailed in their semifinal match against the Haudenosaunee 19-3 on Friday.

The game featured Erica Evans scoring seven goals and 11 points on the night.

The first quarter started off with Evans scoring five minutes into the game before Katy de Snoo made it a two-goal lead.

In the second, Evans continued her onslaught on the Haudenosaunee defence by scoring four more times in the quarter including a beauty quick-stick goal off a pass from Dana Dobbie. The Canadians lead continued to grow giving them a 9-1 lead at halftime.

The third quarter saw Jordan Dean score a highlight-reel goal after she picked up the loose ball off the draw, and made her way past three defenders and faked out Haudenosaunee goalie Chelsea Gibson to finish far-side.

In the fourth, there were multiple penalties and Canada capitalized on their power play opportunities to extend their lead to punch their ticket into the final.

Canada had 10 different players score and three of them had multi-goal performances that helped them earn the win.

Starting goalie Kayla Kondo allowed three goals on 16 shots in the contest.

Canada will now take on their top rival, the USA in the final on Sunday at 1:00PM EST.
