Canada: World Champions

The Canadian men’s team won its sixth straight World Lacrosse Box Championship 13-7 over the USA in Utica N..Y .Sunday afternoon.  

Jeff Teat got the scoring started before Shane Jackson added two of his three goals on the day. USA forward Joe Resitarits recorded the first goal for the Americans. Canada held a 3-1 lead after the first quarter.  

In the second quarter, Zach Currier was the long goal scorer for Canada while Blaze Riorden and Mac O’Keede tallied goals for the USA. It was the Canadians that were in control, holding a 4-3 lead at halftime.  

The third quarter saw the Canadian offence come alive. Six straight goals for Canada saw them build a huge lead that included a short-handed, an extra attacker and a power play marker. Teat added two more goals in the quarter and Dhane Smith assisted on both of them. Canada took a 10-5 lead into the final frame.  

The fourth quarter saw Smith, Josh Byrne and Robert Church all score to ice the game and helped Canada earn the gold.  

Christian Del Bianco made 51 saves on 58 shots.
