Lacrosse Canada Announces Women's Coaching Staff for Super Sixes

Lacrosse Canada is pleased to announce the coaching staff for Canada’s Women’s team at the Super Sixes Competition in Vancouver, British Columbia from October 11-13 2024.

This is the first time the event is being held in British Columbia, after the past two events were held in Oshawa, Ontario. Last year Team Canada went undefeated in the round robin, before falling to the Americans by a goal in a thrilling Gold Medal Match.

Coaching Staff

Shawn Williams, Head Coach, Toronto, Ont.

Head Coach Shawn Williams will be back and he is bringing a very impressive pedigree with him. Not only was he the head coach the past twoyears this event has been held, but he is the current head coach and general manager of the National Lacrosse Leagues Las Vegas Desert Dogs. Williams has a long and storied career in lacrosse, and with Team Canada. The head coach of the 2022 Minto Cup champion Whitby Warriors, hewas inducted into the NLL Hall of Fame as a first-ballot nominee in 2021. He was a member of the 2006 men’s championship field national teamthat captured gold, and his other accolades include being a 2x NLL champion, 2x Mann Cup champion, MLL Champion, and 6x NLL All-Star.

 

Katie Ranger, Assistant Coach , Whitby, Ont.

Joined by him will be assistant coach Katie Ranger, who has also been part of the coaching staff the past two years this competition has beenheld. Ranger was an athlete in the women’s national team program for over 13 years and an assistant coach for the 2019 FIL U-19 Women’s Field Lacrosse World Championships. On the field, she was named to the All-World Team at the 2013 FIL Women’s Lacrosse World Championship as a defender and was co- captain of the senior women’s team during their 2017 campaign. While playing at Penn State University,Ranger was the team’s captain and ranked in the top-25 in NCAA Division I for ground balls and caused turnovers.

 

This year the women's side will include Canada, Haudenosaunee, and Great Britain.

All Super Sixes games will be broadcast internationally through our partnership with NLSE, free of charge, with streaming information availableprior to the event. Stay tuned for team announcements and schedules, which will be released soon.
