Lacrosse Canada Announces Coaches for the West Men's Development Teams
Oshawa, ON - Lacrosse Canada is excited to announce the coaching staff for the upcoming West Men’s Development Teams. These experienced and highly skilled coaches will lead athletes at the U15, U17, and U19 levels, providing expert guidance to help develop the next generation of lacrosse talent. With extensive backgrounds in both playing and coaching, these individuals bring a wealth of experience and passion to their roles.
U15 West Development Team Coaches:
Kevin Crowley
A native of New Westminster, BC, Kevin Crowley was drafted 1st overall in the 2011 NLL Draft by the Philadelphia Wings and is currently a member of the Vancouver Warriors. Throughout his career, he has played for multiple teams in both the National Lacrosse League (NLL) and the Premier Lacrosse League (PLL). Crowley has earned numerous accolades, including multiple All-Star selections, and is widely regarded as one of the top offensive players in the game. In addition to his NLL success, he played a pivotal role in helping Team Canada secure gold at the 2014 World Lacrosse Championship. His legacy speaks for itself and Crowley continues to be one of the top talents in professional lacrosse along with being one of the best coaches in Canada.
Matt Garvey
Matt Garvey has over a decade of coaching experience, including 10 years in Manitoba’s high school field lacrosse league, where he led the Sturgeon Heights Huskies to six provincial championships. He is currently the lead coach developer for Men’s Field Lacrosse in Manitoba and coaches within the Team Toba program. As a player, Garvey represented Team Manitoba in both box and field lacrosse and had a successful collegiate career at the University of Concordia-Wisconsin, where he was named to the All-Conference team three times. His dedication to player development and the sport of lacrosse makes him a valuable asset to the U15 West Development Team.
Tyrell Hamer-Jackson
Tyrell Hamer-Jackson, a talented lacrosse player originally from Kamloops BC. he has become known for his dynamic play, strong defensive presence, and face-off ability. Hamer-Jackson was a member of the Vancouver Warriors for 4 seasons and is widely respected for his physicality and ability to win face-offs. Tyrell is also a member of the New West Minister Salmonbellies of the WLA and was a key member of the 2023 Mann Cup Finalist. With a combination of athleticism, grit, and skill, Hamer-Jackson will be a great fit on the U15 coaching staff.
U17 West Development Team Coaches:
Mitch Jones
Mitch Jones, 32, hails from Delta, BC, and is a 12-year National Lacrosse League (NLL) veteran. Selected 21st overall in the 2012 NLL Draft, Jones currently plays for the Philadelphia Wings and is a centrepiece of their offence. He has won multiple championships, including the Minto Cup with the Orangeville Northmen (2012), the Mann Cup with the Victoria Shamrocks (2015), and the Presidents Cup with the Ladner Pioneers (2024). Jones was also an alternate for Team Canada in 2024. As a coach, Jones has led the Burnaby Lakers Bantam teams to multiple provincial championships and guided Fusion Lacrosse to a USBOXLA Bantam Championship in 2022.
Tej Grewal
Tej Grewal, a product of Mission, BC, was a four-year starting goalie at Simon Fraser University (SFU), where he earned All-Conference honors twice, served as team captain, and was named team MVP twice. With 12 years of coaching experience, Tej is the Technical Director of Mission Minor Lacrosse Association (MMLA), where he focuses on player development and mentoring coaches at all levels. His successful career includes seven provincial, national, and collegiate championships, including back-to-back conference titles during his first two years as an assistant at SFU.
Travis Gathercole
Originally from Melbourne, Australia, Travis Gathercole started playing lacrosse in the 1980s and represented the Victorian State Team at both the junior and senior levels in box and field lacrosse. He also competed for Australia at the World Indoor Lacrosse Championships. Since moving to Canada in 2014, Gathercole has coached club lacrosse in BC at U13, U15, and U18 Tier 1 levels, culminating in a U18 provincial championship in 2020. He is also involved in coaching with various development programs, sharing his expertise and passion for the game.
Michael Seidel
Michael Seidel is currently the Assistant Coach for the Edmonton Miners Jr. A Lacrosse Club, as well as the Vice President of Apex Lacrosse Club. Seidel has a strong background as both a player and coach. He was drafted by the Georgia Swarm in the 2015 NLL Draft and played in the WLA with the Langley Thunder from 2015 to 2017. Seidel also attended Robert Morris University for Division 1 lacrosse. He has been coaching minor lacrosse in Edmonton since 2008, helping numerous players advance to collegiate lacrosse. In 2024, Seidel joined the Edmonton Miners Junior A team as an assistant coach.
U19 West Development Team Coaches:
Adam Charlambides
Adam Charlambides, a native of Ontario, made a name for himself in junior lacrosse with the Orangeville Northmen, where he was recognized for his scoring ability. Charlambides went on to play college lacrosse at Rutgers University, where he became one of the top players in the NCAA. In the professional ranks, Charlambides has played for teams in both the National Lacrosse League (NLL) and Major Series Lacrosse (MSL). Drafted by the Georgia Swarm in the NLL, he currently plays for the Vancouver Warriors. Charlambides is known for his exceptional shooting, vision, and offensive creativity, and he continues to be a prominent player in the NLL.
Jackson Suboch
Jackson Suboch, a tough and skilled lacrosse player from Ontario, earned recognition as a top defensive player during his junior career with the Mimico Mountaineers. He was a key contributor to the Mountaineers' Minto Cup run and went on to play for the University of Massachusetts, where he helped lead the team to NCAA success. Suboch was drafted into the NLL by the Philadelphia Wings and has since played for multiple teams, and is currently with the Vancouver Warriors. Additionally, Suboch has represented Canada in international lacrosse competitions and continues to be an influential figure in the sport.
Cameron Zamonsky
Originally from Yorkton, Saskatchewan, Cameron Zamonsky began playing lacrosse in 2014 and was part of the Yorkton Fighting Pikes team that won the U19 Provincial Championship in 2017. He also represented U18 Team Saskatchewan at the 2018 First Nations Cup. Since 2020, Zamonsky has been coaching, currently working with the Saskatoon Havoc minor program. He served as Assistant Coach for U15 Team Saskatchewan, helping them win a Bronze medal at the Alumni Cup, and later became Head Coach for U17 Team Saskatchewan, achieving 5th place in 2023 and 4th place in 2024. Cameron is also the facilitator of Canada’s only PLL Academy camp and has worked on adaptive lacrosse programs through the Lacrossing Barriers initiative.
