Lacrosse Canada Announces Men’s Staff and Roster for 2024 World Sixes in Coquitlam

Oshawa, ON – Lacrosse Canada is excited to announce the Men’s rosters and coaching staff for the 2024 World Lacrosse Super Sixes event taking place in Vancouver, BC from October 11-13, 2024. 

This team is loaded with lots of young talent that will look to capture gold in Vancouver. The Men’s team has not competed in a sixes event since the 2022 World Games where Canada defeated USA to capture gold in Birmingham, Alabama. 

The staff includes two men who have a strong history with the National Team in Eddie Comeau, and Dan Coates. Their bios can be found below.

Eddie Comeau – Head Coach  

Ed Comeau has spent 21 years coaching in the NLL, which is highlighted by six Champion’s Cup titles, most recently with the Swarm in 2017. After leading the Swarm to a league-best 13-5 regular season record in 2017, Comeau was named the recipient of the prestigious Les Bartley Award, which recognizes the NLL’s Head Coach of the Year.  Comeau was also the General Manager of Team Canada’s men’s indoor team for the 2019 World Indoor Lacrosse Championship in Langley, B.C. He served as the head coach of Team Canada’s indoor team that won the Gold Medal at the 2015 World Indoor Lacrosse Championships in Syracuse, N.Y. He also served as an assistant coach on the 1994 Men’s field team, along with 2006- and 2014-men’s National team. Eddie was the GM for the 2024 Men’s Box Lacrosse Team that recently took home Gold in Utica. 

Dan Coates – Assistant Coach 

Dan Coates has spent 11 years in the NLL as a player and has also been on Team Canada as a player and coach. Dan has been the captain of two NLL franchises (Colorado, and Rochester), and in that tie he has accumulated 711 loose balls and 103 points in 167 games as a defender. Recently, Dan served as the video coach for Team Canada at the 2023 Men’s World Championship, where he helped the team to a silver medal. As a player Dan has been a part of 2014,2015, and 2019 Team Canada. In all 3 events Dan captured a gold medal, the most historic coming in a 8-5 upset win over USA in 2014.
