WHITBY, ON — A new chapter for Junior Women’s box lacrosse in Canada begins today.
The Carol Patterson Cup gets underway at the McKinney Centre in Whitby, Ontario, bringing together six teams and some of the country’s top Junior Women’s box lacrosse athletes for a week of national championship competition, running August 9–15.
The six teams competing for the Carol Patterson Cup are:
- Alberta
- British Columbia
- First Nations Lacrosse Association
- Manitoba
- Ontario
- Quebec
While the Carol Patterson Cup has a history as part of the Minor Nationals, this year marks the beginning of a new era, with the championship receiving its own dedicated national event for Junior Women’s box lacrosse. The athletes competing this week will have the opportunity to compete for a trophy with an established history while helping shape the future of the championship.
Alberta enters as the three-time defending champion, looking to add another title to its recent run of success, while the other five teams look to make their own mark on the next chapter of the Carol Patterson Cup.

LCTV Coverage Begins Monday
Day 1 action gets underway today at the McKinney Centre. Sunday’s games will not be available on Lacrosse Canada TV (LCTV), with coverage beginning Monday, August 10.
From August 9–15, the six teams will compete for the Carol Patterson Cup and the opportunity to add their names to its history.
