OSHAWA, ON – The Lacrosse Canada National Development Team Program (NDTP) Futures Camp concluded this week after bringing together the country’s top emerging athletes for a week focused on skill development and high-performance training.
Held at the Oshawa Civic and ETS Iroquois from July 19 – July 23 , the camp welcomed over 250 athletes across the U15/U17/U19 men’s and women’s programs as they took part in on-field sessions, fitness testing, and inter-squad scrimmages under the guidance of NDTP coaching staffs.
Throughout the week, athletes were challenged both on and off the field, gaining valuable experience within Lacrosse Canada’s high-performance environment while learning from some of Canada’s top coaches, including Reilly O’Connor, Tory Merrill, Stephen Keogh, and many others, as they continued their development along the national team pathway.
Reflecting on the week, Dustin Dunn emphasized the continued growth of the program and the strength of Canada’s athlete development pathway.
“The National Development Team Program continues to evolve into much more than a selection camp. This week demonstrated the strength of our athlete pathway, the commitment of our coaching staff, and the support of families from coast to coast. Looking ahead, we’re excited to continue building a sustainable high-performance environment that identifies talent, develops people, and prepares the next generation of Canadian athletes for international success.”
– Dustin Dunn, NDTP Futures Coordinator
As part of the National Development Team Program’s continued evolution, athlete evaluations will now be conducted through the Future Track Athlete Passport. The standardized assessment provides coaches with a comprehensive framework to evaluate athletes across technical, tactical, athletic, and competitive competencies, while also incorporating performance testing and long-term potential. The passport will serve as a key component selecting the teams for 2026.
As the 2026 NDTP Futures Camp comes to a close, Lacrosse Canada extends its appreciation to every athlete, coach, support staff member, volunteer, and family whose dedication made the week possible. The exceptional standard of competition, learning, and collaboration throughout camp reflects the bright future of Canadian lacrosse and the continued strength of the National Development Team Program.
